Bio

I am a 4th-year undergraduate at Indian Institute of Technology Madras majoring in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Systems Engineering.

My research interests lie in Computational and Process Systems Engineering; with emphasis on data-driven techniques to model the behavior of dynamic chemical systems. Such domain-informed models are a combination of physically insightful white box approaches and computationally powerful black box approaches, presenting new possibilities for automation and discovery of chemical processes.

I love to draw and paint in my free time. Usually, I experiment with different artforms and painting mediums. I also enjoy listening to music and reading novels. If you want to talk about paintings, books, music and ofcourse, discuss about science and research, I'm always up for a chat!

Overview

My previous research explorations have been interdisciplinary projects marrying Data-Science and Chemical Engineering to identify, predict and control the behavior of various chemical processes.

Previously, I have worked with Prof. Himanshu Goyal at IIT Madras to capture mesoscale structures in multiphase CFD simulations using a density-based clustering algorithm. I spent summer 2021 at CAPS Lab, IIT Delhi, where I worked with Prof. Hariprasad Kodamana to build NLP based recommendation systems for optimal process conditions for H2 production. In summer 2022, I interned with Prof. Vinay Prasad at University of Alberta, where I developed Attention based architectures for prediction in adsorption columns and CSTRs. Currently, I am working with Prof. Nirav Bhatt on my B.Tech thesis to develop “Chemical Computers”: a set of programmable CRNs for algebraic computations.

I've also had the opportunity to contribuite and learn through projects from AbbVie Pharmaceuticals and Digital Outcomes.

Alongside research, I am also a part of the Centre for Innovation (CFI), a 24x7 student-run technical body at IITM. Last year, I was the Head of the Electronics Club at CFI, where we built many cool projects exploring various electronics domains. We also curated a custom kit and conducted tutorial sessions for students at IITM. Exhaustive documentation for the same can be found here.
Electronics Club is always looking for enthusiastic people to grow and develop innovative solutions. For any query or feedback regarding the club, feel free to write to the current team or me.

Misc

My most recent read was "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It's gripping, every moment of it. I read the last few chapters with the same sincerety and sobbed a little in the end too. It is a must read!
